Kenneth McDuff: The Broomstick Killer Case

On the night of August 6, 1966, Kenneth McDuff and Roy Dale Green were riding around the Fort Worth area when they came across three teenagers, Robert Brand, Marcus Dunnam, and Edna Louise Sullivan, near a baseball park in Tarrant County. The three were young, out together, and had no reason to know they had crossed paths with men who would change their lives in the worst possible way. According to court records, McDuff had a gun and forced the teens out of their car.

Brand and Dunnam were put into the trunk, while Sullivan was taken with McDuff and Green as they drove away from the area. That moment turned a normal summer night into the beginning of a horrific crime. The abduction led to the murders that first put McDuff on death row and later gave him the name “The Broomstick Killer.” It also became the start of a case that would haunt Texas for decades, especially after McDuff was later released on parole and killed again
