Monster 2003

“Monster” is a crime drama film released in 2003, directed by Patty Jenkins. The film is based on the real-life story of Aileen Wuornos, a former prostitute who became a serial killer. Charlize Theron portrays Wuornos in the film and won an Academy Award for her performance.

“Monster” follows the life of Aileen Wuornos as she meets and develops a relationship with Selby Wall (played by Christina Ricci), a young woman who becomes her lover and confidante. Wuornos, struggling to make a living as a sex worker, eventually begins killing her clients in self-defense or robbery situations.

The film delves into Wuornos’ troubled past, including her abusive childhood and traumatic experiences, which contribute to her descent into violence. It explores the complexities of her character, presenting her as a deeply damaged individual rather than simply a cold-blooded killer.

“Monster” received critical acclaim for Theron’s transformative performance, as well as Jenkins’ direction and the film’s gritty and realistic portrayal of the events. It offers a harrowing look at the life of Aileen Wuornos and the factors that shaped her into the notorious serial killer she became.
