Clara and David Harris’s house in Friendswood is one of those places that probably looked like everything was fine from the street. Nice home, successful couple, kids, careers, and all the pieces of a normal life. But like a lot of these stories, the outside did not tell the whole truth.
The murder did not happen at the house. It happened on July 24, 2002, outside the Nassau Bay Hilton, after Clara found David there with another woman. What had been a private marriage falling apart suddenly became a very public tragedy when Clara ran over David with her Mercedes in the hotel parking lot. She was later convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
That is why the house stands out to us. Not because it was the crime scene, but because it was the life before. The home, the family, the routine, and all the things that seemed steady until they were not. Some places are not remembered for what happened inside them, but for what they represent after everything falls apart.
