The Aircraft Involved – Clipper Maid of the Seas (N739PA) 


N739PA, also known as “Clipper Maid of the Seas,” was a Boeing 747-121 aircraft that was operated by Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) that was scheduled to fly from Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit, USA with a stopover in London. This specific aircraft gained significant historical significance due to its involvement in the tragic Pan Am Flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland, on December 21, 1988. The bombing resulted in the loss of all 259 passengers and crew on board, as well as 11 individuals on the ground. It remains one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in aviation history.
